This research is motivated by the high vulnerability to landslides in Claket Village, Pacet District, Mojokerto Regency. Geographical conditions such as steep slopes, easily saturated volcanic soil, and high rainfall intensity increase the potential for landslides in the area. This study aims to analyze the geographical characteristics of the area, identify local community knowledge in recognizing signs of landslides, and examine participatory mitigation strategies in disaster risk reduction efforts. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants include the community, community leaders, and village government as informants. The results show that landslide vulnerability is due to the geographical characteristics of Claket Village and human activities, while the community has local knowledge including recognizing ground cracks and changes in water flow as early indicators of landslides. This knowledge is manifested in participatory mitigation practices such as mutual cooperation, vegetation management, and collective environmental monitoring. The integration of local knowledge and mitigation approaches has been proven to increase the effectiveness of risk reduction and community capacity in dealing with disasters.
