TOKOH UTAMA PEREMPUAN DALAM SERIAL GADIS KRETEK: TINJAUAN PERFORMATIVITY OF GENDER JUDITH BUTLER

Abstract
This study is motivated by the strong patriarchal social system that places men as superior and women as weak and vulnerable to discrimination. The purpose of this study is to describe the formation of gender identity and roles through language, behavior, clothing, relationships, and power as demonstrated by the character Dasiyah in the Gadis Kretek series. The method used is descriptive analysis with the observation-note technique. The results show that Dasiyah's gender performativity, based on Judith Butler's (2002) theory of the performativity of gender, is evident through her soft yet firm speech, her black kebaya Janggan clothing and accessories that represent power and social status, her body language that rejects stereotypes of femalkee weakness, and her power relations that show male domination over women. The Gadis Kretek series emphasizes that gender is a social construct that continues to be shaped through repeated cultural actions.
